A sailing boat doesn’t rush, doesn’t roar. It lets the wind carry it. Four hours of private sailing leaving from Ortigia: along the south Syracuse coast, two or three isolated bays for a swim away from mass tourism.

How we sail

Boarding at Ortigia
Boarding at the small port of Ortigia, near the Arethusa Spring. Skipper’s safety briefing (10 min), welcome prosecco, and we go. Sails open just outside the harbor.

Sailing the south coast
We head south along the coast, where coves hide between low promontories. No engine once out of port — just the wind, the sound of the sail filling, a seagull or two. The skipper explains how to read the wind, if you’re curious.

Swim stop
Anchor in one of the most beautiful bays (choice depends on the day’s wind — Fontane Bianche, Cala Mosche, or a hidden cove near Marzamemi). Swim in crystalline water. The Fratelli Burgio platter comes on board: cured meats, local cheeses, fresh bread, preserves.

Sunset return
Return along the coast, optional final stop for sunset if the light promises. Disembark in Ortigia.

Do I need sailing experience?
No. The skipper is professional, the boat is managed by them. You’re a guest. If you want to learn anything about sails, they’ll teach you.What if there’s no wind?
The boat has an engine too. On a windless day we cruise with engine but make longer stops in the bays.Children?
Yes, all ages. Children’s life jackets on board. For very small ones (under 4) we recommend calm morning, flat sea.Rough sea?
If the forecast indicates force 3+ we reschedule with no penalty. Conditions assessed the evening before.
